Bob McHugh/PGA Director of Golf
PGA Class A Member Bob McHugh is the Director of Golf here at Sweetwater CC.  He brings a wealth of experience to the club, most recently serving as the Head Golf Professional at The Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Massachusetts where he hosted and directed services associated with the 2004 Women’s U.S. Open Golf Championship.  Prior to this professional experience, Bob served as the first Head Golf Professional at Harbor Lakes Golf Course in Port Washington, New York and received the prestigious Arnold Palmer Golf Professional of the Year Award in 2002.  Bob is the consummate Golf Professional with expertise and quality customer service standards in all operations relating to golf here at Sweetwater CC.  An accomplished and experienced teacher who credits PGA Top Teachers Brad Brewer, John O’Leary, Craig Shankland, Randy Smith, David Leadbetter, and Charlie Sorrell as influential models, Bob is also available for golf instruction and clubfitting., scheduled through the golf shop. Bob and his wife Kristin live here in Sugar Land with their twin daughters Emily and Elyssa.

Deb Vangellow
LPGA Class A member, Deb Vangellow holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science Degree in Health/Physical Education/Coaching and Educational Leadership/Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa and Miami (Ohio) University respectively. A multi sport athlete who was a scholarship recipient, captain, and letter winner in soccer and track, Deb chose to devote her career path to develop into a top golf educator. Her experiences reflect this endeavor. 
After holding numerous positions in Higher Education (academic advisor, resident director in facility housing student athlete undergraduate men, health and physical education instructor), she coached Division I collegiate golf at UNI and led the American Junior Golf Team that traveled to Europe in 1996 as part of the International Sport for Understanding Program. She has worked with the Japanese corporate sponsored "Superlady" project/Kathy Whitworth Golf Academy (TX), the Heritage School of Golf at Old Orchard Golf Club (TX), the NIKE Junior Golf Camp at Pebble Beach (CA), Pine Forest Country Club (TX), Camp Olympia Junior Golf Academy (TX), and at Rice University (TX) teaching golf classes.
Deb now writes regularly for Houston Links, and Southern Gaming and Destinations magazines, and has contributed to Golf Digest, Golf World, Golf Illustrated, Gulf Coast Golfer, Tee Time, Junior Golfer and Corporate Golfer magazines.  She is the female online “Professor” for Golf Illustrated Magazine “University.  Deb is one of the LPGA “Top 50 Teachers”, GOLF Magazine’s “Top Teachers”, Golf Digest Magazine’s “Top Regional Teachers” and was continually listed as one of the “Top 50 Teachers” by the retired Golf For Women Magazine.  She is a contributing author to the “Chicken Soup For The Woman Golfer’s Soul”, Donald Trump’s “The Best Golf Advice I Ever Received” and Greg Peddie’s “I Am Not A Golfer, I Play Golf” top selling golf books.  In 1997, Deb was honored as a recipient of the "Young Alumni Award" at the University of Northern Iowa and was named the LPGA’s Central Section Teacher of the Year in 2002. In 2008, her research project entitled “Less Is More And More Is Better: The Benefit Of Less Length And More Loft In The Driving Club For Recreational Women Golfers” was accepted for presentation and publication in two top Golf Research conferences; “Better Golf Through Technology” (www.bgtt.org) and the “World Scientific Congress Of Golf” (www.golfscience.us).  Continually learning, Deb studied with the late PGA Long Drive Champion and kinesiologist Mike Austin in Los Angeles, CA and has been implementing awareness/learning from her experiences with Educational Kinesiology/Brain Gym, The Alexander Technique, Bikram Yoga, SNAG, Vision 54, and Total Wellness into her instruction programs, emphasizing body/mind/spirit balance.  She credits much of her education in golf to invaluable experiences with instructors Betsy Cullen, Betsy Clark, DeDe Owens, Charlie Epps, Mark Steinbauer, Jackson Bradley, Craig Harmon, Kathy Murphy, Debbie Crews, Dana Rader, Matt Reams, and LPGA Hall of Famers Carol Mann and Kathy Whitworth. 
In addition to teaching men, women, senior and junior golfers of all skill levels individually and in groups, Deb is the National Vice-President for the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Membership and a lead instructor on the renowned faculty for the LPGA National Education Program, the industry leading teacher training program for golf professionals.  A busy golf educator who gives 2000+ lessons each year, Deb believes in teaching the whole game to the whole person.  Her student-centered teaching philosophy includes golf education programming in the areas of skill development, clubfitting, peak performance awareness/implementation, and overall health and fitness ideals.   Along with being a brand ambassador for Sterling McCall Toyota  (www.smccallltoyota..com), Deb’s equipment sponsor is Cobra Golf (www.cobragolf.com) and her apparel sponsor is Bette and Court (www.bette-court.com).

Ernie Annicchiarico


Better know as Ernie A, he is one of four Assistant Golf Professionals  at Sweetwater CC.
 Ernie holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the  University of  St. Thomas here in Houston.  He has 15 years of experience as a golf professional/instructor.  Ernie's teaching methods and style come from instructors Jim Murphy and Jim Hardy. Ernie is well known by most juniors and beginners for his methods in teaching.  However, players of all abilities have found substantial improvement in their games with the ideal of sound fundamentals and game management.

Pinkey Hartline, Jr.

From Lake Jackson, Pinkey is a young PGA Apprentice and recent graduate with a B.S. in Agri-Business from Texas A&M University – Commerce where he claimed 2 collegiate wins during his tenure on the team there including the 2008 Lone Star Conference Individual Champion title.  Pinkey comes from 4 generations of Golf Professionals, Superintendents and Club Managers. While working and studying his way to Class A PGA Member status here at Sweetwater he offers his experience in golf instruction to players of all ages and ability. Pinkey offers an expertise in short-game instruction as well.
 
Steve Packard
Steve was born and raised in Houston, attending Episcopal High School before heading to Texas Christian University where he graduated with a B.S. in Radio/TV/Film.  His tenure in the golf industry began in 2005 and most recently, he worked at Sugar Creek CC here in Sugar Land.  Steve is excited about contributing to the growth of the game and wearing the many hats of the consummate golf professional:  tournament operations, golf shop services, teaching, and equipment consultations/repair.  We are glad Steve is here at SWCC!

Daniel Brent
Daniel is a PGA Class B/Level One Apprentice here at SWCC.  He graduated from the Golf Academy of America-Phoenix and has teaching experience through his internship at TPC Scottsdale and his recent position at Longwood Golf Club where he taught in the weekly Junior Golf Academy and Junior Summer Camps.  He is an accomplished player, winning 3 times on the Golf Channel Amateur Tour and a winner on the Houston I Tour Cypresswood event.  Additionally, Daniel has also participated in major Cutting Horse Competitions and Roping Events throughout the country.  He is married to wife Thayleigh and has a 13 year old daughter, Alex.

Our assistant golf professionals are actively involved in all aspects of the golf operation here at Sweetwater CC.  You will see these busy staff members working on tournaments and events for all of our golf associations here at the club, supervising our outside golf member services team, organizing and maintaining the golf apparel and merchandise in the golf shop, and most of all, working as an integral part of our golf member customer service in the golf shop.   Additionally, all of our assistant golf professionals are available for golf instruction, clubfitting, and club repair service, scheduled through the golf shop.
