Dr. Sterling Carter is a leader in his field and strives to promote innovation in the healthcare community. He has over twenty five years of experience working as a professional physical therapist and is a decorated retired U.S. Army veteran officer who served his country for over two and a half decades, being awarded the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retiring. He is a philanthropist at heart and spends a vast amount of his time giving back and mentoring within his community. He is an award winning doctor, business owner, and speaker. He has been featured several times on TLC's "My 600 lb life" treating patients in need of rehabilitation.
Sterling has extensive education, training, and experience in the healthcare arena. He earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from Langston University and went on to complete his Master of Science in physical therapy with a focus in orthopedics/sports medicine at Texas Woman’s University. Later, he went on to complete a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Simmons University. In addition to his higher education, Sterling is a graduate of the esteemed Fort Bend Leadership Forum, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a Certified Stretch Therapist, and a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College.
A successful serial entrepreneur, Sterling has held countless leadership positions throughout his career. He is currently the President and CEO of Sterling Physical Therapy & Wellness, an outpatient physical therapy clinic with three office locations. He is a founding partner and COO at Sterling Staffing Solutions, a healthcare staffing agency that provides staffing in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Louisiana. Sterling is also the founder and CEO of Sterling Diagnostic Testing Services. Sterling and his business partner, have co-founded and own several other businesses, to include: Carter Brothers Consulting, Home Health Pro, and Cartera Health.

In addition, I am a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors. I have completed my learning modules to become a Certified NACD Corporate Director and I am scheduled to take the certification exam in November 2023.
- What is your objective in the running for this position on the Board?
- My objective is to bring value in any way that I can. I have a vast amount of experience on boards and my life is about serving, mentoring, and growth. I will bring a different view and I have the knowledge to help improve the board structure to align with NACD guidelines, if needed.
2. What do you hope to accomplish during your term if elected?
- Provide leadership. Bring in more members. Help to create different and exciting programs. Generate growth.
3. What personal strengths, skills, or talents would you bring to the Board?
- 25 years of leadership in the US Army. I am the past Chairman for the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce and helped to establish its 5-star accreditation. I am business minded with over eight successful businesses. I have also served on many different boards and can bring my experiences to Sweetwater. I am trained by the National Association of Corporate Directors with special knowledge in each committee, its typical roles and functions.
